Educational Film as Study Practice: Re-imaginging Education Through the Eyes of the Camera
Starting from a school-pedagogical approach, and building further upon Deligny’s notion of ‘camering’ as distinct to filming, this project investigate how the integration of cinematic practices in educational contexts can enable us to radically re-conceptualize the educational film as a cinematographic arrangement of collective experimentation and speculation. More especially against the background of a proliferation of educational films in and as education, the project develops a conceptualization and a design for an educational film practice that establishes a ‘sensory’ milieu that is not centered on learning but revolves around studying. In this sense, our aim is not to investigate how the audiovisual can be used as an expressive complement of educational goals, but how it can, as another expressive regime, reconfigure the relationship between the thinkable and the visible. So as to create the circumstances to establish new and unforeseen relations to the world.
