Approach and analysis of violin technical artistic process and its application into musical works by 21st century Belgian composers

The violin is one of the most studied musical instruments in terms of new techniques, resulting from experiments by performers and composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Although in 19th-century European conservatories, performers were trained based on a 'noiseless' model of teaching, contemporary composers use complex sounds as part of their musical discourse. These differences raise many questions about the educational model for training violinists in Belgium and the use of advanced techniques in recent repertoire. In this project, research is planned into the techniques classified as 'new', and these are questioned through the study of several musical works by Belgian composers active in the 21st century. Indeed, sound color is no longer an accessory, but a structural element of contemporary music. As a result of a focus on 'extended techniques' and timbre, a trend is beginning to emerge that explores the maximum potential of musical instruments and calls for the use of never-before-heard sounds.
