Exploring and demonstrative project focusing on tree pits for urban trees. The project aims to emphasize important eco-system-services from urban trees, and the importance of a well designed tree pit (throughout artificial tree pit systems). The main goal is to design, monitor, and manage urban forests in a way that allows for the quantification and optimization of specific ecosystem services, with a focus on enhancing green condition, water management (both stormwater and drought), and heat mitigation. In a living lab several line-ups (low-tech, high-tech and state of the art tree pits) will be tested and monitored.
