Learning & Communities for Empowering Foster Parents - Learning Communities for Foster parents: Working Together for the Well-being of Unaccompanied Minors

The increasing number of unaccompanied minor refugees (UMRs) in Europe highlights the need for effective support systems. UMRs face significant challenges, including trauma, displacement, and discrimination, which are compounded by the lack of family support. Foster care offers a stable environment that improves UMRs' mental health and integration but poses challenges for foster parents, such as cultural differences and emotional strain, often leading to placement breakdowns. This Erasmus+ project aims to enhance foster care by establishing learning communities where foster parents, professionals, and researchers collaborate. These communities will provide mutual support, co-develop solutions, and create resources to address key challenges. Expected outcomes include increased foster parent resilience, reduced placement breakdowns, improved UMR well-being, and a scalable model for learning communities across Europe.
