Material explorations and participatory research for complex everyday realities
'Material explorations and participatory research for complex everyday realities’
investigates how transdisciplinary and participatory design, guided by a broad notion of
care, can address complex everyday realities our society faces. We explore how hands-on material explorations and collaborative making processes generate profound
insights into 'wicked problems' such as those related to aging, mental health and social
inequality. The primary aim is to collaboratively design and research enabling tools,
innovative methods and new theoretical frameworks that empower affected individuals
and their communities. By actively involving diverse stakeholders, from experts to those
with lived experience, we bridge knowledge gaps and demonstrate the transformative
potential of creative practice.
A current research track in our research program focuses on supporting people with
palliative care needs, using material exploration to facilitate meaningful interactions
with their significant others.
