Nature and construction come together in this project to explore opportunities for building-bound fauna.

The project "Nature-in-building" aims to create or maintain possibilities for animal species such as birds, bats, and insects that depend on buildings. To achieve this, research is conducted into existing fauna-friendly measures in nature-inclusive construction projects. Additionally, new construction techniques and materials are being developed and optimized to provide a sustainable habitat for nature within buildings. There is also a focus on training and retraining stakeholders such as project developers, builders, architects, and policymakers. To inspire target audiences for nature-inclusive construction, demonstration projects are being carried out in the Netherlands and Flanders, covering new construction, redevelopment, and renovation. To ensure that nature-inclusive construction becomes the new normal and is accessible to everyone, efforts are being made to develop methodologies and tools for garnering support and fostering participation. The Hogeschool PXL is participating in the work packages related to monitoring, innovation, and education.
