Selection of relevant behavioral variables from the CASOP test, which are correlated with various indicators of dogs' social skills towards people
At Vives UAS, the CASOP test (Canine Sociability
to People test) was developed that maps a dog's social skill
towards an unknown person. The reaction of the dog to the
presence and some benign daily actions of a testperson such as
coughing, sitting, walking and petting the dog is observed and filmed. All actions are performed in a standardised setting. Apart
from the testprotocol a standardised scoring protocol concerning
some reactions of the dog is needed to assess the dog's social skill.
On the one hand, the focus will be put on easily observable
behaviours performed during the test by the dog. On the other
hand, the same exercise is done for variables measured using AI.
