SHIFT: Students Habits in Interaction and Free Time
Traditional nightlife venues, such as bars and clubs, appear to be losing their appeal among students. Whereas students once regarded nightlife as a natural part of their social and leisure activities, they are increasingly opting for alternative forms of recreation. This shifting behavior raises questions about the factors that influence students’ choices and the role that traditional nightlife venues still play in their lives. The impact of social trends, technology, and evolving values—such as sustainability and inclusivity—seems to be part of this shift. This study examines why traditional nightlife venues are becoming less attractive to students and which factors determine their going-out behavior.
