Learning at Home stands for one-on-one guidance during a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 home visits by students, also known as tutors, who will become teachers. The tutor provides tailor-made support, acts as a role model and makes an open offer to vulnerable young people/pupils and their parents, depending on the initial situation of the tutee. Motivation, well-being, learning to learn, future prospects, pupil involvement in school and parental involvement in school are the pillars on which tutors focus during the project. PXL-Education collaborates with around twenty partner schools on the “learning to learn at home” project. We cherish the existing partnerships through regular contact with the secondary schools and the exchange of expertise. Complementary to Learning to Learn at Home, we are also continuing to focus on the student tutoring project “Buurtsport” (Neighbourhood Sport). For the subject of recreational exercise, students focus on learning through movement. In addition, some tutors also have the opportunity to become acquainted with “learning to learn” in other contexts, for example through the “OPSTAP Peer” project, which guides pupils in the 1st and 2nd grades of secondary education in their learning and choice-making process. The objectives of the project for the tutees fall within the following areas of student guidance: learning and studying, psychological and social functioning, and educational career.
