Compassionate coexistence between humans and dogs: valorisation
The project ‘Compassionate Coexistence between humans and dogs’ is based on a clear societal challenge: interactions between humans and dogs are not always safe or welfare-friendly. Children are at increased risk of dog bites, many dog owners lack accurate knowledge about canine behaviour, and professionals such as teachers, parents, and employees have few practical tools to support safe interactions. In addition, there is a need for objective insights into canine communication, welfare-enhancing environments such as sniffing gardens, and clear selection criteria for office dogs. The absence of validated tools and educational materials hinders a caring, safe, and mutually welfare-oriented relationship between humans and dogs.
This research has generated rich data and prototypes, which will be refined and further analysed during this one-year trajectory.
