Am I ready? Measuring AI skills and connecting them to healthcare training
The Am I Ready project aims to develop an AI skills scan specifically for nurses in a hospital setting and, based on its results, refer these healthcare professionals to targeted AI training where necessary. The scan is designed so that nurses immediately receive feedback and additional knowledge on each skill addressed.
A task-based assessment of AI skills is crucial because it provides an objective and practice-oriented measurement, in contrast to subjective self-assessments. This helps nurses apply AI correctly in their work, thereby improving patient safety and efficiency. In addition, it enables targeted training by identifying weaknesses in AI competencies. The scan also promotes the acceptance of AI in healthcare, as professionals gain greater confidence in their abilities. Finally, it fosters ethical awareness and critical thinking regarding AI-based decisions.
