This practice-oriented research project develops inclusive technologies that support people with cognitive diversity or sensory impairments in their daily routines, with a particular focus on urban contexts such as Brussels. Edge AI and multilingual interfaces are used to design context-aware solutions that function offline and respect user privacy. The target group includes students with cognitive diversity or situational barriers, younger people with neurodiversity, people with sensory impairments, and older people with early dementia. These groups are each tailored to real needs and approached in a function-based rather than diagnostic manner. Through co-creation with users, healthcare professionals, and NGOs, we develop prototypes such as memory apps, haptic alerts, and visual speech interfaces tailored to real needs. The project aims to contribute to greater independence, lower care pressure, and inclusion. The expected output consists of open-source software, manuals, teaching modules, policy recommendations, and scientific publications. The results will be shared through workshops, demonstrations, public events, and international partnerships (including with VUB and RGU).Thanks to this approach, we deliver scalable, usable, and ethically responsible AAL solutions with a lasting impact on practice, policy, and education. External funding will be used for upscaling and broader application.
