Centers of Vocational Excellence for Resilient 5G Networks
Core 5G brings together 22 partners and 8 associated partners to establish a transnational network of seven regional Centres of Vocational Excellence
across Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, and Cyprus, addressing Europe's critical skills gap in 5G network resilience, cybersecurity,
and sustainable telecommunications infrastructure.
The aim of CoRe 5G is to contribute to Europe’s strategic autonomy and digital resilience by transforming how vocational education prepares the
workforce for managing, securing, and sustaining next-generation telecommunications infrastructure. The project aspires to align vocational training
with the EU’s digital and green transitions, ensuring that all regions and societal groups can participate meaningfully in shaping a secure, climateresilient
digital future.
The project will create a skills ecosystems bridging digital and green transitions through three-tier upward convergence connecting advanced Northern
European capabilities with emerging Southern and Eastern Mediterranean expertise. Core 5G will deliver seven operational Innovation Labs equipped
with 5G testbeds and digital twin environments, 25+ formalized industry partnerships, and trains 500+ professionals across EQF levels 3-5 through
defined upskilling, reskilling, entry, and specialization pathways.
Implementation innovation will be reached through immersive gamified learning environments demonstrating 40% improvement in learner
performance during simulated multi-risk scenarios. The innovative Cross-Border Mobility Toolkit enables 144 participants to engage in blockchainverified
credential exchanges, while Regional Skills Observatory delivers quarterly forecasting reports informing curriculum evolution.
