How can we truly hear every student’s voice in school support? This project explores how collaboration makes the difference.

In short
How can school teams respond more effectively to students’ educational needs? This practice-based research focuses on powerful student support through interprofessional collaboration, placing the student at the centre. In collaboration with UCLL and TOPunt vzw, Artevelde University of Applied Sciences developed tools that help schools listen to every student and turn their input into concrete policy.

Need and relevance
Many schools face challenges in addressing growing diversity and involving students more fully in their support processes. Although the Student Guidance Decree promotes an integrated approach, aligning all professionals and giving students a meaningful voice remains complex in practice.

From approach to impact
Through interviews, team reflections and action research, school teams, researchers and practice partners worked together. They explored how listening to students not only improves individual support but also strengthens team collaboration. The results include practical tools such as an adapted Quickscan for school teams and conversation guides for student engagement. This project contributes to sustainable professional development in schools and reinforces students’ right to be heard.
