How can leadership drive real innovation in care? This toolbox helps managers bring creative ideas from the work floor into daily practice.

In short
The practice-based research project ‘Innovation culture in care’ aims to develop a toolbox for managers in healthcare organisations. This tool supports them in empowering care professionals to grow in informal leadership and innovation skills, creating a sustainable culture of innovation. The project is carried out in collaboration with the care organisation Mintus.

Need and relevance
Healthcare organisations are under pressure to deliver high-quality, efficient and people-centred care. Innovation and creativity are crucial, yet many managers feel unequipped to support bottom-up innovation. Currently, no practical tool exists to guide managers in nurturing informal leadership and fostering innovation among their staff.

From approach to impact
In collaboration with Mintus, researchers explore the needs of healthcare managers in promoting innovation. Through interviews, co-creation sessions and workplace observations, a toolbox will be developed with concrete strategies. This tool will help managers integrate innovation into everyday practice and support a culture shift within their teams and organisations. The project contributes to knowledge development in the fields of leadership and innovation in care.
