KOALA +: number sense, vocabulary, and phonemic awareness

This project investigates how screening for number sense, phonemic awareness and Dutch vocabulary knowledge in 5-year-old preschoolers can be integrated into the existing KOALA screening tool. The test development follows a phased approach: from the conceptual phase, which results in a test matrix and item development, through pilot research and calibration, to cut-off point determination, final test design and implementation. The result is a screening tool that aligns with the new minimum targets and supports school teams in monitoring and supporting their pupils' development in the relevant areas.
