MaDriTT: Maritime Drone Training & Twin Environment
The MaDriTT project focuses on developing an integrated training and education program for maritime drone applications. The project comprises three pillars:
1. USV & ROV Training – Training in the use of autonomous surface drones (USVs) at sea and remotely operated underwater drones (ROVs), with a focus on navigation, sensors, electrical systems, inspections, and propulsion.
2. Digital Twin and VR Training – A virtual maritime environment, powered by sensor data, where trainees can safely practice drone flights (UAS) in challenging weather conditions. Following the VR simulation, practical training takes place in the same physically demarcated maritime zone.
3. VTOL Training – Deployment of a high-end VTOL drone for long-distance flights and offshore wind farm inspections, with takeoff from the coastline.
By combining state-of-the-art infrastructure, hands-on training, and innovative teaching methods, the project will support companies in integrating maritime drones into their operations and contribute to safer and more sustainable use of maritime technology.
