Mai-Home
MAI-HOME, which means "with artificial intelligence" in Dutch, is dedicated to improving the lives of low-income individuals living in social housing in the Netherlands and Flanders by supporting the energy management through AI technologies and behavior change.
Investigating the causal link between energy poverty and poor energy labels of (rental) homes is crucial. Many people living in social rented housing are in a vulnerable position and often face high energy bills. By better understanding the relationship between energy poverty and the quality of housing energy performance, appropriate interventions can be developed to break this vicious cycle. Our practice-oriented research of this connection can lead to policies and investments that not only improve the energy efficiency of homes, but also ease the financial burden on households that are most vulnerable. Our hands-on research shows once again that we can have a real impact on society's problems.
The project aims to create optimal conditions for residents to lower their energy bills. By leveraging AI technologies and encouraging changes in energy consumption habits, residents living near the poverty line can save money and lead more sustainable lives.
