VEG-i-TEC: Advancing Research and Development in Potato and Vegetable Processing Industry

VEG-i-TEC serves as a pilot facility for applied research and development focused on processing methods within the potato and vegetable processing industry.                                   Its primary objective is to bridge the gap between research and production. Research efforts often concentrate on specific topics within the production process, often neglecting their impact on the entire operation. Conversely, production companies frequently lack the resources to conduct practical tests on processing lines, hindering the adoption of innovations.

The facility provides a real-life demonstrator, allowing the simulation of production processes at a level representative of the sector. This environment enables the exploration of new technologies in a safe setting, examining their impact on process optimization and energy conservation.

Within the VEG-i-TEC facility, the energy flows, with a focus on water and energy, from each modular process block are monitored. This monitoring employs the best available technologies currently in the market and those anticipated in the future. This approach aims to achieve process optimization and energy conservation through:

  • Implementation of new sensor technologies
  • Utilization of powerful visualization and analysis tools
  • Effective data storage and security measures
