ReMeWa - Methanol
The ReMeWa project helps to make the Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) sector more sustainable by supporting companies in the transition to dual-fuel technology (a combination of diesel and a more sustainable fuel). It offers an online tool for impact calculation and a ready-to-use conversion kit for diesel engines. The focus of this project is on diesel-methanol. The target group for this project includes inland shipping companies and companies in the logistics sector that handle goods at a yard or terminal and want to make their NRMM equipment more sustainable with dual-fuel technology for power ratings ranging from 100 kW to 1000 kW. Flemish inland shipping comprises approximately 775 Flemish ships (power 500 to 1000 kW), most of which still sail with older, polluting engines, and approximately 2125 NRMM machines (power 100 to 800 kW) in Flemish seaports and inland shipping terminals. Together, they form a significant group of more than 2,900 units that are eligible for conversion to dual-fuel technology. In addition to users, the project focuses on installers and maintenance companies (several dozen companies) that can carry out the conversion and overhaul. Producers and suppliers of more sustainable fuels are also involved to cover the distribution aspect. Finally, educational institutions play a crucial role in knowledge transfer through teaching packages and workshops.
