Working together for the elderly care of tomorrow
How can we co-create sustainable elderly care? By listening closely to older people, their relatives and caregivers in practice-based research.
In short
This project connects Artevelde University of Applied Sciences’ Health & Care research centre with elderly care organisations in the Ghent region. Through interviews and focus groups with older people, relatives and caregivers, we identify needs and opportunities. The findings form the basis for an innovative, supportive toolkit.
Need and relevance
The ageing population presents major challenges for 21st-century society. While the pressure on elderly care is increasing, many needs remain unaddressed. At the same time, caregivers invest daily effort and expertise. This project brings their experiences to light and uses them to drive sustainable, people-centred change.
From approach to impact
We conduct in-depth interviews with older people and their relatives, and organise focus groups with caregivers from a wide range of disciplines. This inclusive approach ensures diverse perspectives. The project results in a shared set of research and development priorities and a practical toolkit to support innovation. In doing so, we build a sustainable network and contribute to knowledge creation in elderly care.
