Starting from things that concern us individually, but also collectively. Places and spaces in Brussels that are important to us. The big or small crises that affect us. Our daily practises for dealing with them, our fears and hopes for the future;
Letting ourselves be impregnated and transported by science fiction and other speculative fictions. Unlearning the present, embarking on a journey into the unknown;
To proliferate our own narratives, to make the Brussels they bring about. To imagine together the profound changes that could affect the city. Enquiring into these future Brussels, experimenting with ways of adapting to them, emotionally, culturally, socially and politically.
Organising encounters in and between these different urban futures, far from the present tensions. Exploring the unexpected tensions or connivances that these encounters generate.
To make new forays into the present, informed by these journeys and encounters. To take note, to act, to strengthen our struggles, to create new alliances: to return, after these journeys, "boosted" in our individual and, hopefully, collective adaptive capacities.
This is the invitation that our constellation of citizens, researchers, artists, activists, mediators and naturalists is addressing to the people of Brussels who, like us, wish to ward off impotence, resignation and injustice in the face of the present and future crises, but also to get away from the oft-repeated recipes that are partly their causes.
This invitation concerns first and foremost human and more-than-human actors (animals, objects, places, etc.) at the margins of power structures and dominant models, as those who hold alternative experiences, practices and imaginaries.
It is intended to be extended progressively to those who wish to take up the challenge of 'muscling' their imagination in order to respond to a plurality of possible futures, but also to join those committed to making things change.
At the end of this journey, will the methods, objects and stories we have developed be able to nourish other groups and actors, including in other contexts? We hope so.
