Titan: AI for Citizen Intelligent Coaching against Disinformation

TITAN explores how citizens can play an active role in the fight against disinformation, supported by artificial intelligence. It creates an AI-powered coaching ecosystem that enables Europeans to evaluate information critically and make more informed decisions online.

Need and relevance

Disinformation erodes public trust and spreads rapidly through social media. Despite the rise of fact-checking tools and services, citizens often feel powerless. TITAN responds to this challenge by empowering people to detect, understand and question disinformation, with a focus on ethics, inclusion and digital literacy.

From approach to impact

TITAN develops a citizen-centred AI ecosystem using Socratic dialogue to coach users. It helps citizens:

• investigate claims individually or collectively;

• evaluate the logic behind arguments;

• understand the social media impact of sharing content.

Pilots in Belgium, Italy and Bulgaria target young people, institutional trust and migration narratives. Through co-creation, TITAN ensures its tools are ethical, scalable and trusted across Europe. This project supports a digitally resilient, critically minded society.
