A large-scale assessment investigates the extent to which Flemish pupils at the end of pre-primary education achieve the minimum objectives for Dutch and mathematics that are expected to be met at the population level. In addition, differences in test performance are examined in more detail, both in terms of individual pupils in relation to their personal background characteristics and in terms of differences between schools in relation to their student populations and the education they provide. Finally, scenarios are explored for how the assessment tests could remain meaningful in the future for schools that are not involved in a repeat assessment.
