Way into the world of inclusive learning
Inclusive learning has been on the research agenda for some time, both
within and beyond Vives. While inclusive education is often understood as the integration of children with disabilities into mainstream education, the concept encompasses much more than this single aspect. That is why we explicitly use the term inclusive learning rather than inclusive education. This allows us to focus primarily on learning and learning processes in diverse contexts, including but not limited to education—after all, everyone learns, and learning is a lifelong process.
Secondly, this research programme examines the extent to which these learning processes are inclusive, or can be made more inclusive. With this project, we aim to explore how we can guide and support professionals in becoming familiar with and implementing inclusive learning processes. Since the research group is newly established within Vives and emerged from the need for interdisciplinary collaboration (between education and care/wellbeing), this research programme also serves as an opportunity for us to orient and position ourselves as a research group within the field of inclusive learning, both inside and outside Vives.
