M.O.T.I.O.N: Gemechaniseerde orthese voor kinderen met neurologische aandoeningen
MOTION is an Interreg 2Seas project called Mechanised Orthosis for Children with Neurological Disorders. The project aims to improve the quality of life of children with neurological disorders through advancements in the development, validation, and adoption of bionic rehabilitation technology. Additionally, MOTION seeks to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer from research to various stakeholders such as industry, healthcare professionals, end users, and policy makers by establishing a transregional network.
One of the collaborations within the MOTION project involves Mobilab & Care working on an active ankle exoskeleton designed to assist children with the neurological disorder known as cerebral palsy (CP) in walking more easily. Cerebral palsy is a condition that affects the coordination between the central nervous system and muscles, making it challenging for children with CP to walk. The goal of the exoskeleton developed in the MOTION project is to enhance the quality of life for these children by addressing mobility issues related to CP through the utilization and advancement of rehabilitation technology.

Resultaten
Advanced development and validation of bionic rehabilitation technology for children with neurological disorders, referred to as CP, includes the following components:
An autonomous and secure lower body exoskeleton for children.
A Smart-textile, a functional, comfortable, attractive garment that integrates monitoring sensors suitable for children. This will be usable for all applications where monitoring is needed.
Statistical analysis of physiological and biomechanical measurements for practitioners and the scientific community.
Base technology applicable to other lower body disorders such as lower limb paraplegia.
The establishment of a transregional network to transfer technology and related knowledge from research to practical application by linking research, industry, healthcare professionals, and users.
Web-based and face-to-face training packages for health professionals and carers, dedicated to the stakeholder community for communication.
A map on assistive technology dedicated to health authorities and SMEs.
